Talking Range Day

Went to the range today with a Remington 597 .22LR semi auto and the
8 3/8” barreled Model 500.

Tried something I’ve never done before in 11 yrs of shooting these fun guns. Shot double action @ 7 yds using a medium heavy load of 40gr H/IMR 4227 behind a 385 gr hard cast, probably about 1580 fps based on other chrono numbers this gun produces.

I think I’m a pretty decent shot but I am also sure that there are plenty on the forum as good or better than I am. In any event, moderately rapid firing, got 4 of 5 in a 1.5” group. 5th was COM but not in the main group.

Shooting Trail Boss plinking loads in DA mode was of course, gentle and fun. Don

Somehow, I don't equate a 500, with gentle & fun. I guess I'll take your word for it. Bob

It’s fun to effectively control that much power. The Trail Boss loads are very gentle, like a larger .38 Special. Don
