J or K, depending on how I'll use it. J for SD, K for HD or open carry. Stainless for SD, either for HD. And .38 Special all day.

K frame Snub For carry Blued (nickel when I feel like an aristocrat). For the Range K 38 Masterpiece 6 inch blued. I like the 38 special round has been proven for over a hundred years. In the east here I don't have to worry about many 4 legged critters a 38 couldn't stop.

L or K Frame
3"
Black
My handguns are for carry/defense. If I want to target shoot for accuracy I have a couple of custom built .22s.
My 386 Night Guard is hands down my favorite S&W revolver. I like it so much I have two. It is light and easy to carry/conceal. Dead nuts accurate. Totally manageable with 357s. Has amazing sights with a XS Big Dot Night Sight up front and C&S U Notch in the back.

K frame, .38Sp/.357M. 3 or 4". Depending on what I am doing I normally carry my 3" M-13 or 65, or my 3" M-66, less often my 4" M-19.

I like stainless, 3"-4" barrels, favorite frame size is L, favorite caliber is .45 ACP.....so I'm SOL on owning my dream S&W
BUT, two of my favorite revolvers, the 625-3 and the 696-1, are close enough. To me the 44 Spec. is not much different than the .45, but ammo is harder to find and I don't reload (maybe after retirement i'll get wise and start reloading).

N and J. There are no others for me.
38/357 and 45acp
N 3.5" to 4"
J 1-7/8" to 2-1/8"
Finish...no preference. Stainless, blued, or nickel are all fine by me.

Stainless Steel
BUT; .............................
A few months ago I described how I acquired and rehabilitated my first "N" frame M 28-2. By the simple modification of getting the ergonomically right grip for my hand I transformed this big handgun into my present runner up to my M 66s. BUT, the more I shoot it, the closer it is to becoming my absolute favorite handgun for everything except CCW. It is an absolute laser with maximum loads. I have never been able to shoot maximum loads in my M 66s with pleasure. I am seeing the light and it is spelled, "Highway Patrolman" :-). ............... Big Cholla

I like the K frame with four inch barrels. I've a mod.19-4", mod.18-4", and a mod.48-4". It just seems to be the size and length that looks appealing to me. Took me a long time to find the 48 with that length barrel though.

Model 10-5 just a simple pick it up and carry gun, accurate, adequately powerful and easy to learn to shoot well.

3" K frame .357 in blue. Let's see...a 3" model 19...never been within miles of one, a true grail gun for me! There is the 13 so a person never knows what may crop up.
Instead I'll just have to settle for a couple of 3" K's in stainless and a 3" L in blue...life's tough.

J Frame 442
K Frame 64-4 2in
L Frame 586-5 4in
N Frame 624 LH 3in
Prefer 4 in barrels in most flavors, like to look at blued guns, like to carry stainless and like shooting them all.

I do not have a large group to choose from, but the 642 PC with Pacy grips like those on the 638 is my carry but the 686, - Man what a gun.
I have never had a revolver lock up like this 686. I just opened it up and smoothed out the trigger return block and the edges of the hammer. Greased and reassembled, what a subtle but noticeable difference. I do not have just one favorite, as the two of them are darn close to my heart.
Frank.

649, hands down. 2.15" barrel. Carries like a J-frame, but shoots like a K-frame. The all steel frame makes any load feel good, and shoot even better.
Stainless steel, the way God wants it to be.

It's a 629-8 with the lock also have the 629-7 same gun without the lock. They were a limited run made for camfour.
This is the one without the how they come from the factory with rubber grips.

Favorite frame size is a toss up between L and N.
I would have said that my favorite caliber is .44 Mag, but apparently my inventory says .357 Mag.
Favorite barrel length is a toss up: 8-3/8" for target shooting, 4" for utilitarian.
Favorite finish is definitely blue, but I prefer to carry SS.

What's your favorite frame size? N but K/L and J are nice too and hey nothing wrong with an X frame... should I just say all of them?
What's your favorite caliber? 44 special, 45acp and 357mag come in next with 44mag and 22LR following.
What's your favorite barrel length? 2-3"
What's your favorite finish? Stainless/bead blast but the old high polish blue in good condition looks very nice as well, not the new blue though.

Favorite woods stomping revolver is a 3" N frame 44mag.
Favorite at the range is same thing in a 4" or 6"
Favorite all rounder is a 4" N frame 44Spl.
Favorite caliber is 44, Spl. or mag, depending on what the mission is.
Favorite CCW is a J frame 38Spl, BUT, I have a 3" K frame 65 that snugs up real nice and it is a .357, so it's got that going for it.
Finish... I like blue but I'm not married to it. Stainless has its uses and for foul weather hunting I prefer hard chrome. I took a perfectly good 29-3 Classic Hunter with 4 position front sight and hard chromed it.

I can't even come close to naming my "favorite" in practically any of those metrics....Depends on what I'm doing.
I know, copout answer.. But I look at my modest collection ranging from a little m36 to a 460v and several in between and the closest I guess I can come to naming a favorite would be the Queen of the safe..
m29-2, 4"bbl, factory combat grips.
Sorry about the bad pic.. I need to get a couple better ones.
