New Grashorn Stags on my Model 19
I had originally inquired about my Charter Bulldog, and I still may, but my desert gun, family pass down, my very special revolver was in need of new stocks. This is my one firearm I would choose if I had to choose only one. So I ordered a fine set of stocks.
Here it was in the condition when I received it years back:
The only things I did to it was add a Lobo (thanks Ray!) holster around xmas 2012 and the pachmayr presentations for desert use as you can see below:
I have been carrying like that for years and I finally decided to get some stocks worthy of it. Did my research, looked at hundreds of online photos and designs. Fingered other people's and gun shop finds for the past three months. Then I asked Patrick to make me some. He went above and beyond expectations.
This is how it will be until the day I pass it down to his grand kids in his memory. No need to worry about condition. It is a shooter, a revolver to be carried and used. It saw it's fair share of action for a short period of time as a predecessor to a 4" Python that was worn out over the years and even was used to put someone who needed it back into the dirt where he belonged.
Now, in it's new life, it has been used to kill a few coyotes, wild pigs, and some javelina. It is a constant companion in the back country I frequent, and it is a home defender faithfully on the nightstand. It is more than adequate for all of it's intended uses in my opinion just as good if not better than any bottom feeder ever made. From 180gr hard cast to 158gr gold dots, it is robust and does it's intended job well.
It is the one handgun I will never ever part with under any circumstances. I would give up every hicap, every 1911, and every other revolver I own if I had to. But not this one.
Without further ado..... and to stop rambling, thank you Patrick for your fine work worthy of this special revolver:

Yes. Pictures do not do his work justice. They are even more amazing in person and in the hand.

As I have previously stated, I am not a fan of the form or function of magnas (except possibly 2" J frames), but after looking these Grashorn grips, I am contemplating a set to share between my 19 and 66 2.5s! Have to admit they'd be damn sexy wearing some Grashorns!

Neither do I. I varmint hunt jacks with it as well using the old skeeter recommended load a 38 special case and a 158gr swc. I also hunt coyotes with it using magnum loads and the same 158gr swc. However, I broke my hand a while back playing ball which resulted in the permanent loss of motion my RH ring finger even after reconstruction, so I need a little more grip, especially when practicing with my 158gr speer GDHP and 180gr hardcast rounds.
I am adding a BK grip adapter to it to assist. I chose a black one I think it will contrast best based upon photos I have seen. I ordered it yesterday. I will post new photos when I get them.

Very nice grips and story! I have been carrying it's stainless brother for 32 years now. Carried it on duty for years as a young deputy, then we switched to Glock 40's. I still carry that old 66 regularly in the outdoors, and I am in the outdoors A LOT!
Been shooting and carrying that old gun over three decades now, and it's still as tight as the day I got her, Aug. 1, 1983 to be exact. Don't let anyone fool you about a K Frame Smith Magnum's durability. If you take care of it, it will take care of you for a lifetime!!
BTW, I have plans for stag grips for it as a retirement gift to myself in just a few short years!!!

A black grip adaptor will.....really add to the handling without taking anything away from looks of the gun or grips.
