Forgive me for I have sinned
I know I stole this S&W model 60-3 for the $50 I paid for it. But the retiring officer at my department wouldn't take anything more. His response was it served me well for the past 25 years and now it will serve well for the next 25. All I could do is thank him and smile. He also included a few holsters, speed loaders, cleaning kit and ammo.

You should say a lot of Hail Marys for that one.

Now you can afford some Grasshorn grips to dress her up a bit.
I am sure it has a good home now.
I sold several guns below my cost to friends over the years.
I hope even the ones who shunned me after a divorce are still appreciated.

I'm glad you got it, but I hate to think that a retired police officer is going around unarmed. We need as many trusted and trained armed folks around as we can get.

If he wouldn't take over $50 you have no blot on your escutcheon.. Clearly he thinks a lot of you and trusts you to take care of the gun that took care of him for 25 years. I'm happy for both of you. Hell, I'm happy for the 60, too.

I said, out loud, when I opened this thread, "huh what?" and then smiled.
That revolver is now linked to you for the next 25 years.

And when you get near that time yourself pick out a nice young pup and pass it along to him or her for a similar deal. Even if you are carrying phasers at that point, a well taken care of Smith will always be great to have.

Stick that thing in a Galco ankle holster and carry it for 25 years and you will be absolved. Go in peace my son.

What a relief.... I thought you may have done something like send a K-32 masterpiece to Gary Reeder to make it a 327....with engraving.
No sin here, unless you pawn it for a quick buck

I clicked here and saw nothing. Was there a post here? I searched but found nada. Something going through my mind, like " see no evil, hear no evil...." Hmph. Must have just thought someone got a great deal and it wasn't me.

In 25 years you'll have to sell it to another LEO for $50. Assuming new cops even know what a revolver is in 2040.

If it makes you feel better, about 30 years ago I bought a nickel plated Model 36 square butt, carried it for awhile, never could fall in love with that square butt, so I retired it. I bought it for $125 from an Oklahoma LEO. 1986, I think. In 1996, more or less, a retired LEO friend of mine opined he wanted a J-frame for his wife. "Really?"
I gave it to him.
So, see, the world moves around and around in happy little circles of giving....
HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Nice blaster and obviously a super guy who passed it on to you.
I've found in similar situations, that a box of Omaha Steaks, is very seldom refused !

I would never buy Grasshorn grips with these clowns shooting lions. Does it make them feel big shooting a lion from hundreds of yards. Idiots.

sin
I chuckled as I read your heading.
Congrats on your new acquisition - no need for for repentance here.
My sin is much worse. I have been waiting for quite a while now for S & W to come out with a 617 in a 4.2" barrel. I don't have enough time left now to wait for one of these, so I bought a neat little Ruger SP 101 - stainless with a 4.2" barrel.
It seems Ruger might be coming out with a 100 in .22 but word seems to be it will be a 10 shot model and will be competition for the 617.
It seems Ruger likes to put out firearms, to wit the 10/22 and the SP 101, that need a few "touch ups" so we will see how it goes. Due to gov't paper work, I won't have the 101 home for a couple of days yet.
