Default Unusual 67

Yesterday on a Gun Store trip ,I saw an unusual to me, model 67. I believe it was factory and I think it was a Model 67-5. It had the barrel profile of a Model 65 , was pre-lock, round butt with Hogue rubber stocks, bobbed hammer, and one of Cylinder and Slides fixed rear sights. Are any of you aware or familiar with this model? The heavy barrel is what made me think the whole thing was factory. Whatever, it was a way neat using package and I may yet get it next week. Thanks for your input and all my very best, Joe. PS, it had a serrated tang.

Joe,

according the SCSW, 67-4 (1998) introduced the new frame, eliminated the cylinder stop stud, eliminated serrated tangs, changed to a MIM hammer w/ floating firing pin, and changed internal lockwork.

The 67-5 change introduced the internal lock, that was in 2002.

In 2004, 67-6 introduced the new two piece barrel design, Product code on that one was 162802 it retailed for $642.

The bobbed hammer and fixed rear sight are not the way the revolver was cataloged. To me, the adjustable sights is what makes that revolver stand out from the Model 64. I would want to reinstall the correct adjustable rear sight.

Was it a .38 Spl? A M67 won't take .357 Magnums. You gotta go back and take some pictures because it sounds real interesting.

I will take a closer look this coming Wed. if it is still available. I am unsure of the dash, but it would be a neat using gun in 38 special. Thanks to all for your input. All my best, Joe.
