Default NM 66 Combat + Wilson combat springs = WOW

WHAT an improvement. I had picked up a Ruger Match Champion ahead of the NM 66 Combat, and thought the Ruger hands-down had the better DA trigger of the two. Heavy, but buttery smooth.

I just installed the Wilson Combat spring kit in the NM 66 (hammer bar and 13# return spring). I mean, whoa, it's almost a night-and-day difference. The 66 had a nice SA trigger out of the box, but in DA, the first 1/3 of the trigger pull stacked heavy. I ought to invest in a gauge, because the difference is amazing.

I know some of you guys really dig the Wolff kits. I went with an Apex kit + extended firing pin in my 640 (which yielded excellent results in that little J-Frame), and thought I'd try the Wilson kit in the 66 for grins. For 15 minutes of my time, and $20 including shipping and a small round-up NRA donation, I'm extremely pleased.

Gave me a chance while I had the side plate off to double-check that everything was clean, drop a bit of lube here and there at the contact points, and give the whole area a light shot of Hornady Dry Lube.

I just got my Wilson Combat kit and will probably install it in my 686 tomorrow. Good to hear you had a positive experience with WC.

I learned a little trick with the rebound slide spring if you don't have that little revolver tool. I used the front of a ball-point pen (but not with the pen clicked "out") to press the spring in as I slowly nudged the rebound slide down. It's not a perfect process, but it's not hard either.
