Purchased my first set of Combat Grips, think they were made in 1989...
because they came on this 627 Model of 1989!!!
Wow, have I been lucky lately in finding rare/collectible guns. I found this one, this morning, at a local gun shop. At first, I wasn't sure if it was worth the asking price of $1,095 + tax. But after I held it in my hand, I knew it was coming home with me. I figured I'd probably never find another one for sale, locally. And in 10 years, I know it will be worth more than what I paid. And this thing is just plain BAD *****! It looks like it was shot, but very little. Lockup is still perfect, no marks on the recoil shield and hardly a burn mark on the front of the cylinder. Only negative is there was no box.
I don't think I'll be able to keep from shooting this gun, as it seems to be the perfect platform for a .357 Magnum - weighing in at over 3 lbs, I bet magnums feel like specials in this gun.
It is a 627-0, btw, which I understand is a good thing if you plan on shooting these guns, as the no-dash's had a problem with endurance.
So without further ado, here she is:
Top-strap checkering on a stainless gun? Oh yeah!
And these grips are very nice, in both look and feel.

$1095 for combats?!? Good thing they threw in the 627. Sweet looking firearm. I'm sure you'll enjoy shooting that one.

Awesome find! You are lucky I didn't see it first since I'm close by in Livonia. Its looks perfect & great looking combats too. I would have gladly paid what you did and more to get that one.

Very nice! That exact gun is on my wish list, but I haven't seen one for less than $13-1400 recently, so I think you did good! It would definitely have come home with me at that price!

I have one and love shooting it . I had Jim Stroh at Alpha Precision work it over and it shoots great for such a heavy gun .
The factory grips were sold off .IMO factory combats are the most over rated grip out there . Useless in my book .Probably work alright on a 617 but never cared for them on .357's or .44mags .
Shoot that thing. You'll love it .

I also just don't like the feel of the RB combats, the ones that came on my 24-3 reside in the box, while I have modified RB to SB grips on the gun.

Normally, I'm not a fan of the round butt/long barrel combo, but that one is gorgeous!

Bought one new when they first came out. Hunted deer with it a few times. Vowed I'd never sell it but I did. Worse gun mistake I ever made.

I don't think any N frame 357 mag has had an endurance problem.

Superb grips! Those are my favorite. And the topstrap checkering! NICE!
1989 was a special year for me - ETS from the Army. I liked guns, but was busy chasing other things....or I probably would have bought way more guns. Wish I had seen this model back then!
Good find & Enjoy

Beautiful. Congrats on that sweet 627. If you decide you want to take the price you paid down to around a couple hundred less I would be more than happy to take those combats off your hands

Beautiful gun and grips. Maybe the angle of the picture, but is the flat headed screw (which should be under the grips) residing in the yoke screw hole? Can't tell for sure.

Thanks, all screws are correct (flat head is under the grip, I checked) - must be the camera angle. Take care.

Thanks, I definitely won't be selling the grips. If I find them uncomfortable, in shooting the gun, I'll do as H Richard did - put them in a box, for safe keeping. Take care.
