Congratulations! A nicely proportioned revolver, I like it
I've never seen markings like that on the face where the ratchets revolve nor the additional imprint around the firing pin shroud? Is that the result normally seen with a recessed cylinder set up?
I really like the model 66-1, it is on my bucket list, enjoy it!

Yeah, that's some pretty heavy duty marking. Is that normal?

That looks like tooling chatter to me. something loose in their setup or dull cutting bit maybe.
I just checked my 66 and its there but much lighter.

Just got done at the range, 100% smooth functioning. I noticed those marks too but it's been so long since I looked at a p&r revolver I can't remember noticing them before.
It's easily as accurate as any other K I've owned before. I'm very happy and very glad I found it.

In my hand, the round butt 2.5" K-frame (with magnas and a Tyler-T) is the best balanced K-frame I've ever held. Love (and slightly prefer overall) the 3" Ks, but the 2.5" is balance perfection...

Another range trip and this thing is a shooter! Easily the best purchase I've made in quite awhile. I think I'm going to have to order another holster from Ray at Lobo very soon lol.

Very nice K snub!
That should make for quite the carry gun.
Thanks for posting photos.

In my opinion, the 66-1 is the best of that series; it was the last of the pinned and recessed 66s. The snubby is arguably one of the "sexiest" guns ever produced by S&W. In short, you have a very cool revolver.

Back before I paid attention to such things I had what must have been a 4" 66-1 (1977-78 was the time frame, I got it new so assuming it was a -1).
Well a couple of years later I just had to have a "wondernine", traded in the 66 for a 59 (I had a couple of Colt 1911s but wanted the firepower lol). I do remember how well that 66 shot and how accurate it was. I've had other's since but once I did start paying attention to dash numbers and such I knew I had to get another.
I was looking for a 4" but this little gem was sitting all forlorn in the case at the shop and a deal was struck. I took off the Pachs even before I left the store haha.
I agree with John, it is a very cool revolver .
