Default Model 29s - Let's see your grips.

I just recently picked up a Model 29-10.

After my first round at the range (remind me to never buy cowboy action loads ever again), I think I want to change out the stocks.

Something just doesn't feel right about the N frame and the standard stocks - my hand seems to want to ride up pretty high. Maybe a Hogue with finger grooves might help me get a better hold on it?

What have you guys tried and liked? Pics please!

I have two 629s that are wearing factory combats. I also have several beautiful sets of Ahrends that frequently adorn them.

With factory combats...they just don't seem to feel right in my hand.

However these Kurac stocks feel just right

Well, for actual shooting, the rubber Hogues are hard to beat and along with my preference, Pachmayr Presentations, they are way more comfortable than any wood grip to me. This also includes the beautiful S&W combat grips I have on a few revolvers.

For showing, the wood grips. For shooting, I am partial to my Pachmayr Presentations. The Hogue rubber grips are also more comfortable to me.

If I'm shooting magnum rounds, Pachmeyr's . I have some nice Kuracs for show, and mine came with nice dark factory targets.

Something about putting black rubber onto a dark blue gun just doesn't seem right to me. Anyone have any pics of that setup?

OP-these are Grashorn's on my 629, they'd probably look even nicer on a blued 29. Not that much fun to shoot with though; on range days that revolver is wearing Pachmayr Presentations. I'm one of those people that can't stand finger grooves, but grip adapters fit fine, go figure????

Smile MDL 29's & 629's

This 629 no dash has been with me for some time - Stocks seem to have a bit of 'coke' feel to them, but of course they are not-- really time for me to let this old girl go to a good home but there is little interest, or none for that matter.

1965 Model 29-2 wearing Cokes of course

1956 44 MAGNUM. These early Cokes are just a bit smaller than the later Cokes. Not by much, but it's noticeable when put one down and pick the other.

Default recoil taming grips for the 29 series

If you're not looking for a pretty face, these Crimson Trace Hog Hunter grips turned the 329PD with 300-grain hardcast bear loads from a wrist breaker to tolerable.

Kurac signature grade Cokes.

Very comfortable to shoot, and none of the rocking back in your hand that you get from factory targets.

I inherited a 29-3 from my great Uncle who passed last year. It had Pachmayr grips on it, but my hand rode high on the grip and my knuckle pressed against the trigger guard. I tried lighter loaded ammo and still had trouble holding it while shooting. I was about to sell off the gun because it hurt to shoot it, but a fellow forum user encouraged me to tough it out and find a way to make the gun suit me better. Firing it was a challenge to say the least with the Pach's, so I switched them out with a Hogue grip. I'm a lefty with stubby fingers and the Hogue finger grips make shooting this 44 a nicer, more controllable experience that don't involve my wrists feeling like they've been smacked with a sledge hammer; the way they felt with the Pach's on it. Lighter 44 loads and better grips later, I'm glad I listened. I'd have been really disappointed with myself for letting it go, seeing now that I can fire this beast and get some pleasure from it with no more pain.

Simply original S&W combat grips in goncalo alves. But they are getting hard to find, and pricey.
