I am not too sure what this entry is supposed to mean.

The very first 8 shot Performance Center model 627 revolvers were introduced in 1997 with a product code of 170089. This introduction was at a -PC engineering revision. Since there was a production floor design of 627 that used different parts, the 627-PC was chosen to differentiate the two current designs. At the time only 300 8 shot, 357 Magnum revolvers were planned to ever be produced.

Since this design went on to become a cataloged item, the production floor revisions were caught up to the new PC design at their -2 revision.

After that the production floor and Performance Center engineering revision numbers were kept in-sync.
