Trio of M66's 2,3,4
I came across my first model 66-4 about 6 months ago. Not being that big of a snub nose enthusiast I had no idea how impressed I would be once I had one in hand. I stumbled onto the -4 on GA for $500 and didn't recognize what a good deal it was until I got into adding more 66's to my collection. The -2 and -3 cost me the exact same amount on GB, $600 after looking and bookmarking on a weekly basis. I feel very fortunate to have found these 3 M66's in as good a condition as they are in. After cleaning them I dressed them up with Hogue monogrips, tulip wood on the -2, cocobolo on the -3 and bubinga Ahrends on the -4. the fit of both are excellent but the Ahrends wins for the feel and would probably be on all three had they had what I wanted but one man can only do so much and I truly admire Kim Ahrends work.
In the short time I have been searching out these M66's I an in awe of the growing demand leading to the rapid price increase I have experienced. The last bookmark for a M66-3 95% plus finish, no box or papers closed last night for $800, and that is not unusual of late. I am mostly a online buyer, not out of choice so these prices I know don't reflect a regional factor and with the associated online cost and grips I am in the hole a little but am confident in a few years time I will be happy I made the investment in these truly beautiful "k" frames. Cheers
This is the last M66 I followed. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...Item=483350954

Very good looking pieces. Personally prefer the Ahrends. Not only is Kim Ahrends a fine craftsman and engineer, he is a super nice guy as well.

Well maybe if you wan't tryin' to corner the market on the nice ones the price wouldn't be goin up so fast.
You've got some nice ones.

Similar situation here.
I was focused on acquiring the big manly N frames when I came across a model 66-2, 2 1/2 inch barrel at a ridiculously low price.
Picked it up with the intention of using it as trading fodder down the line. I then came across a 4 inch model 66–1 at another ridiculously low price which I also picked up with the same intention.
After sitting around neglected for a while I started shooting both 66's and found that I really like them. There's just something about the proportions of a K frame.
I too have chosen to put Hogue wooden grips on my 66's.

I failed to mention that, thank you. I have called a couple of times for information I was unable to find and had the opportunity to speak with him and he is also very generous with his time and likes to know his buyers are fully satisfied with his product. Truly old school customer care not often found these days.
