Default Jacketed Soft Points - Question

Since I received my new Model 27 .357 last month I have been trying out different ammo selections to find one to my liking.

I'm really hooked on the Federal American Eagle 158 gr. JSP's.
My question is, since the lead tip begins at a smaller diameter than the jacketed portion below it, does that mean that the lead tip is not coming in contact with the riffling?
