I Bought Two new S&Ws Today
There were two S&W Revolvers that I have been wanting real bad. Well I just sold my M1A Match Rifle, and with the Proceeds I Bought a 629 Talo 3", and a 4" 617. The Talo went out Today, and I'm driving over to the Dealer to pick up the 617 Tomorrow. What a way to start off the Month.

If I ever saw a 4" 617 in a gun store, I would probably buy it.

Congrats on your two newest!
There must be a problem with my computer though...I can't see any photos of them.

OK just brought the 617 home. Got it for $699+TX, and 150miles worth of Diesel. The 629 Talo will be here on Thursday according to USPS Tracking. BTW Nothing wrong with your equipment....Lew

Yes, a very nice looking 617! And I'm looking forward to seeing your new 629 too.
In another thread earlier today, I stated that I had not bought a new gun in 17 years and don't intend to either. However, of all the new offerings out there, the one that might make me break my 17 years of abstinence is a 617. I hear they shoot just as good as the older 17s. If that's true, then I might just need to get one.

I had a 1973 vintage M17, and a M18 also. They were both great shooting guns, but I sold them years ago. My Son has a 4" 617, and I shot his when he was down here on Vacation.
In my opinion the 617 is as good, plus the fact that it holds 10rds so you don't have to reload as often.

So I'm not the only person who would trade a longarm, even an excellent one like the M1A, for a handgun or two. Remember Mad Max at the Thunderdome weapons check window?

Are you asking why I sold it, or for how many $$$.
I sold it to one of the Range Officers at my Range for $1500
It was a Springfield National Match new in 2007
Sold it because I'm too Old to shoot Long Range anymore
I love the M14 too, I trained on one in the Army back in 64. Actually, I won't miss it. Got a few more of them........Lew

Yeah, an M1A can get you 2 or 3 used/new handguns.
My "loaded" model went that way too.
You are getting two fine revolvers in exchange.

629 Talo Arrived Today
The 629 Talo came in today. Having bought it off of Gunbroker I have to admit that I was a bit nervous however my fear was unfounded. What a beautiful piece of machinery. Almost too pretty to fire LOL
