What are the Model 66-2, with 2 1/2" barrel. No box,or paperwork.I would rate the gun above 95%. Has black rubber grips. Not sure if they are factory,or if it should have walnut grips on it.

I sold mine in March of 2014 for $650.00, no box or papers but it had non numbered original stocks.

I just paid $750 for one in very nice condition but with non original grips. They are hard to find. I like the -2 due to the smooth combat trigger. Also like to look and see if loaded at a glance. The P&R thingy is overrated in my not so humble opinion.

Nothing, but I'll take it off your hands for $100.

Y'all are right on the prices as far as I can tell.

Here's my track on the Model 66 snubbie:

Smith & Wesson 66 2-1/2 inch barrel. Revolver in .357 Magnum,.38 Special, Plus P. Blue Book of Gun Values (35th Edition) indicates between $561 in 95% condition and $754 in 100% condition for this gun. I have 80 recorded prices for this model gun from $436 to $1103 over a period of 3 Yrs 7 Mos ending July 5, 2015. The average price as of that date was $695. No refurbs, no refinishes, regular sights. All represented as 95% or better. No distinction for engineering revision, if any, no special editions, no distinctions for box, papers, tools. Current or last MSRP is $614.

The last 10 prices I have for this model since 2/10/2015 range from $600 to $975 averaging $743, so the average is climbing.

Here's my dash five:

Glad somebody else started this thread. There has been one sitting in the case at a LGS here for about a month wtih 2 sets of grips (one aftermarket and a set of Smith target style/not magnas) for $650. I bet I can get it for $600 out the door. May go grab it.

Yes you really should. That'd be a smokin' deal!

Thanks

I have just been a bit spoiled. In Dec I got a 66-1 with box/papers magnas and Smith combats for $800 total. The gun was actually $600 and I grabbed the combats from the same guy about 2 months later for $200. I guess I just need to realize that was a fluke type deal.

I did end up getting this a few hours ago from my favorite LGS. $600OTD. Came with both sets of stocks although the Smith Target stocks are for a square butt. I will have to figure out what kind of Magnas were correct for the gun and search for a set.

Its a 66-2

When it rains, it pours. I just found a 66-1 2.5" Has 2 sets of grips (neither are the orignial magnas though) and a holster and his asking price is under $600. Meeting him tomorrow.
