Talking 342Ti

Stopped by a nearby pawn shop to check their wares and lo and behold this like new 342Ti was in the case.
Serial number would suggest a February 2000 vintage. Barrel is marked .38 S&W SPL. + P Jacketed.
Since these don't show up very often I brought it home.

Very Nice!

That is one of the finest carry guns ever dreamed at S&W

Lovely gun. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES use Gun Scrubber spray to flush out the insides after firing. The finish on my 342 peeled off from this compound. This is the only gun I have to have been so affected. The sister 337 for some reason did not react in this manner.

While not supposed to, this gun can be subject to crimp-jump when firing. You may have to experiment on a carry load.

You have maybe the best outer jacket pocket gun extant. Many of these guns ride in the pockets of LEOs for just this reason, including several Forum members. Congrats on a great pick-up. Stay safe, partner. Getting bad out there.

Default 342

I bought two of these when they came out, best pocket gun ever, I don't recommend them for women shooters as they have a lot of recoil. I gave one to my son who is a deputy, and I used mine on the job as backup and I still use it everyday.

I have a pre-lock 342. Wonderful carry gun. Terrible gun to shoot. I don't think of myself as recoil sensitive but I can't do more then 10 rounds out of the little gun before I have to quit shooting it.

Exactly. It's not a gun to shoot regularly at the range. I can hear the naysayers now, "You have to practice, practice, practice with your carry gun". This is a close range, defensive handgun and the need for practice is often overstated. I speak from 20 years experience as a law enforcement firearms instructor.

Plus one on this^^^^ Carry alot and shoot a little. I qualified with it. Then shot it enough to make sure I was not getting bullet crimp jump with my selected ammo. Mainly carry since then. Shoot my other guns and have no concerns about belly gun ranges.

All I can do is echo the "one of the best pocket guns out there" comments.

Congratulations!

Been carrying mine everyday for about 20 years. Not really a gun you would enjoy shooting all day at range. Great as designed. Put 5 bullets in your left hand and gun in right. Which weighs the most?

I have a 342PD that I think is the best pocket gun S&W ever made. Great for an IWB holster when you want a very light carry as well.
