Default Model 10-T

I was looking at a used model 10 S&W revolver today. It was stamped 10-T. I was expecting a -6,7,8 ect.
When did S&W start letters instead of numbers?

Does it have adjustable sights? Just a thought, you know, "target" model 10.
Can't wait to find out more on this one!

Of course, it could be threaded barrel...but I doubt it!
