Question about the S&W 649 .357 magnum.
I have question for owners of the S&W 649 .357 magnum revolver. Is pocket carry difficult with the standard rubber grips on the Model 649 .357 magnum revolver?

No I don't think so.
I carry mine in a pocket holster.
With these grips.

I use bigger Pachmayr grips and they work just fine, assuming the pocket is big enough. It is a bit heavy for my tastes for that mode of carry.

No, but I replaced with smooth wood grips.

I can handle a 13 oz 340 M&P with the OEM boot grip knockoffs. Your 649 is double that weight. Maybe try these grips on your 649? They are ideal for pocket carry, IMO.

In my opinion, a set of boot grips is the way to go. I prefer wood but, the Uncle Mike's boot grips are my favorite "goodyear."

A quick and easy way to make a small gun smaller is to install smaller grips.

IMNSHO, it's not really as good a "pocket" revolver as an alloy-framed 442, 642 or 340PD would be, since the 649 is all steel, but you may think differently.
