Default Showin off some new grips

This week I picked up a set of VZ grips for a J frame from another forum member. I really need to stay clear of that classifieds forum. Way tooo much temptation there.

Anyhow, I brought them home and tried them out on a couple of my J frames.

I bought these intending to put them on a 640 that I anticipate coming to live at my place in the near future. But that gun isn't here just yet, so I mounted them up on my 60.

I noticed right away they were not a perfect fit high on the backstrap, but were OK.

Not quite done messing around with them, I put the VZ's on my 342PD. Much better fit on this later production gun than the older Model 60.

Of course the proof is in the shooting, but so far, happy with them on the 342PD. They kind of look at home on the unobtanium snubby.

I've had a love/hate relationship with VZ grips on 1911 pistols.

Love them for color choices and textures....hate them for the grip screws backing out WAY too easy during firing. You can use an O-ring, but...sometimes the O ring makes the grip screw sit "proud" of the grip panel.

Anyway, love that VZ makes a grip for the K/L frame now, but...waiting to see if they make a "boot" version for K frame, much like the grips the OP is sporting on his j frame.

I'll keep eyes posted for a range report on the OP's J frame...see if sharp edges or fit are a factor in performance.

I really like the VZ look you have there and I am thinking I am going to get something very similar for my 627-5.
I wish they made a boot style to replace the stock grips.
I ordered a set of VZ grips today, Tactical Diamond Predator Green RB G10, and will post a pic when I have them on the gun. I think they will really enhance the looks of the gun. I hope anyway.

It did add some weight to it. But as light as the 342 is in the first place, it really seems negligible.

wheelyfun66 I'll try and post up an update after I get this new set up to the range.

I put vz's on my 325pd 4" also for the look but they are the smallest grips I have found for my medium size hands that give me a good trigger reach on the N frame. They are slightly proud of the backstrap but no problem when shooting.
