The wife took me out to lunch today for my birthday and I bought myself a 3" 629-1

Great lunch at Joe's Crab Shack and then clothes shopping at Bass Pro. Had to take her to Dillard's for some new shoes and made two stops at LGS'. Was about to leave the second shop when one of the kids comes out of the back and asks the owner if it would be OK if he ordered a replacement sight blade for a revolver that they had just purchased. I asked if I could look at the gun and it is a 3", 1986 vintage Lew Horton with combat stocks still on it. Stocks are dinged up from use (dings and the ear on the left stock is broken off) and the rear sight blade is mashed almost double on one side. I asked how much they wanted for it and was told it had just come in and they had not priced it yet so it was not for sale. I asked them to price it to me as is and they did. Not a smoking deal but it is nice to have a set of combats and a 629 that are shooter grade and can be used without killing the value. Already had a holster for a 5 screw 357 3 1/2 inch carry piece so I am good to go. New shoes for the wife and a new to me Smith for me is a good day. Had a rear sight blade in the parts box and it is now installed.
