I recently purchased a Smith & Wesson Pro Series Model 986 Revolver, 9mm Auto. I took it to my local range, just love the way it shoots, except for the horrible sights. Black Adjustable Rear Sight with a Black Blade Front Sight. You hold this onto a Black Bulls Eye Target and all you see is Black. I have white three dot sights on my Walther PPQ that I really like. Any suggestions on what I can change out to on my S&W Model 986.

Thanks

FO is popular with the USPSA crowd. A friend recently let me try his 986 with FO sights and I liked it. A lot depends on what you are shooting at, and in what lighting conditions.

By the way, bullseye shooters often adjust the all-black sights for a "6 o'clock hold" with the sights in the white and the black bull sitting on top. As you said, with the military or center hold, black sights on black target are hard to see.

I agree! If front & rear are black go with the 6 o'clock hold.

With my old eyes, a fiber optic front sight and black rear sight works for me and is what I have on most of my handguns.

Black on black sights use to work for steel plates and bullseye ( with a 6 o'clock hold ) when my eyes were younger. But , now fiber optic or a red dot for bullseye is the way to go for me..

I hate the 3 white dots. A lot of my shooting is at white steel plates and trying to line up 3 white dots with a 4th white dot just doesn't work.

I was at one of my local Gun Stores the other day, they had a new Model 686 in the case, it had a white outline rear with a red blade front. Won't these sights fix my 986 ?

My 986 is used for steel challenge.
The SDM fiber optic front sight made all the difference in the world.

I put a HI VIZ green fiber optic on my 986. It really stands out. I use mine for steel shooting, so I'm not sure how it will work for you. I just know it works very well for me.

I looked at the Dawson Precision Web-Site, and did not see any sights available for Smith & Wesson Revolvers, only S&W 1911's
