Very nice find. How does that long barrel handle for you with the RB grips? Never tried a RB with a barrel over 6 inches. All my long toms have SB's.

Thanks Larry. I swapped out the RB combats for round to square conversion Hogues for range time. That long full underlug barrel does a great job of absorbing recoil.

Sweeeeet piece!
That is so nice... but to be honest.
I'd have a hard time shooting that one.
I'd pinch and save for a shooter or just go into the range bag and grab a dash six?
Either way, I'm betting it make'em change color with the best of'em.
Congratulations buddy to some of us...that's a Grail gun!
Let us poor working folks know how do, with your new piece.

Thanks Chris. The best thing about this gun is that it's already been shot. Not a virgin. When I picked it up it was pretty dirty. Powder burn on the cylinder face, under the top strap, etc. On that first range trip I put 150 nasty lead slugs down range. I'm way happy to have found a grail gun that I can put to work and not bury in the back of the safe.

Looks like the twin to mine with a slightly longer barrel. Those grips are a bear to hang onto. I always swap mine out with rubber ones for shooting.

It sure doesn't look it.
I would have swore it was factory crisp.
Enjoy it man, to me the dash three is king of all 629's...

That shine was AFTER I brought it home from the range. I like to test drive them first, dress 'em up for pics later. Amazing what a couple of coats of Mother's and a couple of PBRs will do to the finish!!
Stay safe walking those beams.

As noted, a "grail gun". Very nice.
Have yet to find a shooter. Been making do with a couple of "Post DX" -6 variants and they've been more than satisfactory, but.... And a couple of 6 1/2" DXs. (One of which will likely get swapped off for the 8 3/8" version!)
Will likely head to Lincolnton this month. Want to see if a 10 5/8" AFS 29 will have enough sight travel to reach 200yds with my current Field Pistol loads. Frankly, the Dan Wesson .357 SM just isn't all that enticing. Would rather run something familiar. Even if it's from one of those odd reclining positions. And may shoot some free-standing Field Pistol targets as well!

BTW, going to guess it's one of the early "four hole" top straps with the odd rear sight. If so, don't misplace that sight if you install optics! But with the full iron sight package, I'd leave it be except maybe for load development.

Wow! Very nice.
I love seeing stuff you don't see very often and this was a three-fer!
1. Don't often see a 629 DX 8-3/8"!
2. Don't hardly ever see complete package in such pristine shape!
3. Don't often see that good of shooting at 40 yards free standing. Impressive!

Thanks x 3! I've been keeping an eye out for one of these for awhile. The only thing missing is the rubber Hogues. I guess the original owner preferred Pachs. The great thing is that I get to shoot it...a bunch!
