was at the local gun show yesterday. Dealer had a NIB 4" 586, $700 out the door. I walked, wish I'd bought

That's not bad, but you should be able to find a deal like that again. Had it been the 2.5-inch gun, NIB (with box), that's another story.

If I didn't have a 4" 586 already I would pay $700. I have a 4" and 6" 586 and I like the 4" better. 6" is a little to barrel heavy after a while. 4" is perfect. One of my favorites!

That was a decent price, especially if it was older one. You might want keep your eyes open for a 581 as well. It is the fixed sight version and a lot less common.

To me, $700 isn't any particular deal. It's OK, if a person wants a 4" 586 and doesn't want to wait or shop, but I think a better deal could be found.

Don't lose any sleep over it.

I really enjoy "THE HUNT" of finding a particular gun. When I finally get it I am happy, but feel the need to start the process again for another! My 586 4" no dash came to me on a trade. I have approx. $450 into it. I have the original target stocks that came on it. It currently wears worn Herretts. They are nice & comfy! SEEK, and YE SHALL FIND! Bob
