Default Model 686 Talo Deluxe

I have just purchased the Model 686 Talo Deluxe with a 6" barrel. Upon receiving this gun the grips were loose and when I tried tightening them the screw turns but does not tighten nor loosen? If I wanted to tighten the fit or change the grips I can't because I can't get that screw out. Any tips?

That is one firearm that really deserves a picture when discussed!

By what you are describing, sounds like the screw is stripped. You can use something to push the screw from the back side, while unscrewing to get the screw out.

Then try a new screw (call S&W) to see if the threads in the frame will hold, or if they are stripped/damaged. If the frame threads are damaged, you'd have to have it re-tapped. If so, I'm sure S&W will take it back under warranty. Good luck.

Welcome to the forum.

Nice 686 ya got there.

If you get stuck with any mechanical issue on your 686, you have warranty coverage. Customer service can e-mail you a shipping label, and instructions.
The last two times I sent a 686 in for warranty work, I had it back in three weeks.
