Default REMOVING GRIP FROM 60LS

Hi all. I have a LADY SMITH 60 and I want to polish it but I can't get the grip off. It's not the type that is in 2 panels. I took off the one screw but it almost seems like it's glued on. I assume it should just slide off but it doesn't and I am afraid of using a screw driver to lift it alittle cause I'm afraid it will break. Anyone know the best way to take it off? I need help.

Usually between the back of the trigger guard and the grip there is a small gap. I have used plastic scrapers or a plastic or wooden chopstick to slick in the gap and create a wedge.

The model 60 Ladysmith comes with two piece laminated wood stocks. If the blackstrap of your grip frame is exposed, the screw is on the side, and you can trace the seam between the panels from the heel to the trigger guard, you have the two panel stocks.

Back the screw out several turns and gently tap the screw head to push the opposite panel loose. Remove the screw. If you can't lift the grip off, use something soft - never a screwdriver - to work around the edges to lift it off. When one side is off you can tap the other side off from the inside of the grip frame.

Hope that this helps.

Another little tip that I use with stuck grip panels is to find a stiff but thin business card and work it between the wood and the grip frame. Once the card is inserted as far as it will go, twist the card with your thumb and forefinger. This usually works for me with no damage
