Default The Three bears (S&W's)

I wanted to buy my wife a gun for her personal protection and CCW. Must be a Smith & Wesson.
We've been married 36 years and we had an anniversary coming up. I know she's a Lady, so how about a "Ladysmith".
I got her a 2" Model 6o "Ladysmith" - Too small.
I got her a 3913 "Ladysmith" and put a beautiful pair of Hogue cocobolo grips on it - too big, and she didn't like the semi auto.
So, a while back, I was cleaning my 3" 66-2 and she asked to hold it - BINGO!
Now the hunt was on for the elusive 3" 65-5 "Ladysmith".
I finally found a beautiful example ( no easy task in SoCal ) and she says it's just right!. It came with round butt rosewood grips, but she prefers the Pachmayr Compac Professional grips.
A fellow Calgunner gave me an original factory "Ladysmith" soft case. (Thanks Ernie).
She loves it and life is good.

Very nice. I love the 3" round butt guns. They are a great size for belt carry under a light cover garment.

Is she still a fan w/full power .357 ammo ? My daughter loves her M65, as long as it's full of .38 Spl.

Great looking revolver. Looks all business with the new grips. She has good taste in firearms.

When I was taking my CCW courses (NRA sponsored and taught thank you very much) We had a few couples in there who had already owned/bought their guns and some of the ladies did not enjoy shooting them on range qualification day.

It wasn't until a lady instructor (and active duty detective) came in to teach a portion that she clued the guys in. She was petite and beautiful but masked a real toughness about her.

Welcome for the 65-5LS club! It's a great package, but I need to find some better grips for large hands.

Educate me...is there a difference in the "Ladysmith" other than the lettering?

Groo here
I was made fun of for having a "Lady Hawk" 9mm.
The correct response is "A Gentleman does not go to town without
His Lady".

Assume you're asking the difference between the 65-5LS (and -6LS for that matter) and the standard 65-5 3 inch. The LS has an ejector shroud and perhaps a "lighter" trigger pull. If you use the search function you'll find several posts about the 65 LS models.

The Ladysmith M-65 also had a bead blast finish different from the brushed stainless the more common 65 had. The regular 65 also had checkered walnut Magna grips while the regular Ladysmith had the smooth rosewood stocks your gun has.

Your gun just isn't seen for sale much these days. I think those what has 'em keeps 'em.

Good grab.

Thanks to all who posted. Nope - there will be no magnum rounds fired by my wife (Me either). I handload .38 semi-wadcutters for practice and her carry load is 158 grain Buffalo Bore SWCHW designed for short barrel guns.

I love that ejector shroud on a fixed sight revolver. Just plain sporty looking. If the standard M65 3" had it I would never have sold mine. PEN
