Got my new Altamont grips on and love the way it feels/shoots over the rubber grips...but it wont work with a speed loader. Not a huge deal as I'm obviously not gonna be concealed carrying this hoss...but it sure would be handy for the range. Is this "common" or are there other speed loaders that will work with wood grips?

It is common, but they should have advertised that it will not work with speed loaders.

That would be a no go for me. Even with my range only guns I like to practice my loading. I would send them back.

It's a matter of the grips blocking the speedloaders, not the size of the speedloaders themselves.

Speedloaders are the same diameter as a revolver's cylinder, so they can't be made smaller. Lots of great grips share that problem.

If you really like the feel of the grips, and want to keep them, maybe a little trimming / reshaping to allow speed loader clearance is called for?

Which grips are those? They look exactly like the ones I put on my Model 10. I can still use a speedloader.

When I ordered from Altamont I just let them know I wanted the stocks relieved for speedloaders and they made them for me. Maybe if you contacted them, Altamont might recut yours so they would work. Worth a call! Hope this helps!
