Default 629 photo thread

Who's up for a new 629 photo thread.
I haven't posted in awhile but have seen lots of 629 threads going with new guns and some new members. I'll put up some older pics to start it off and if time allows, new ones to follow.
Show'em if you got'em.

No dash and transitional

Dash 1's

Dash 2's

Dash 3 and 4

Dash 5
Edit, can't find a pic of my -5

Some dash 6's

And the 7 and 8

All together

Show us your 629's

I'll play Chris! I love to drool over your collection. I like the way you grouped yours by dash #s too. Always impressive!! Here's my 629 family with a few 29s in the mix.

And a couple of recent additions.

A dash 1.

I just got the dash 1 Sat at the IHMSA match from a fellow shooter. My other 3"er is a dash 6 so I couldn't say no to the older model. I hope to dirty it up one day this week!

I only have one 44 Mag revolver and it is this 629-3 Classic. I bought it off GB a few years ago and the pistol was everything I hoped and much more. Since I got it, I changed the Goodyears to a set of Ahrends and early this year I swapped the red ramp front sight out for this gold bead patridge sight. The beaded patridge really helped my old eyes pick up the front sight better.

Hey neighbor! Nice revolvers. I use photobucket to load my pics to the forum. Where it shows "Share your photos" click on IMG and paste in the reply box. Hope that helps. It took me awhile to figure it out. Oh yeah, if you ever delete a pic from photobucket it'll delete it from the forum too.

That pair of fixed sighted guns are pretty awesome. Most people have never seen one in person(including me) let alone have a pair.

Thanks, I've got a line on a third one, a 629-5 Camfour, 2.5 inch without the lock. My cousin has it and I'm slowly wearing him down with trade offers. Hopefully soon.

My 629-5 "Flat Lands Gun"...

Oh wait, it is actually a "Mountain Gun", or as my hunting buddy calls it, the "Flinch-Master 2000".

Latest find: Model 629-2 "The Mountain Revolver"-gilas-629-mr_a-jpg Latest find: Model 629-2 "The Mountain Revolver"-gilas-629-mr_b-jpg Here's my 629-2 Mountain Revolver, a restoration project that began in April 2009. It had been internally 'bubba'd', the screws were buggered, and the finish was all scratched up. Nelson Ford fixed the internal problems, replaced the screws, and refinished it. Over the years it has worn factory Hogues, Ahrends, and Pachmayr grips and stocks. About a year ago I acquired a set of S&W target stocks that had been heavily modified into custom combats. Last month they came back from DWFAN with a new and durable finish. They look right at home on the restored MR.

Do I need a SW 44 magnum revolver or not?-img_3328-jpg This is a 5" 629-3 Classic. Good balance, recoil absorption, and accuracy in a manageable barrel length.

Do I need a SW 44 magnum revolver or not?-sw29ckrein05walkabout-jpg Had to show off my first and favorite .44 Magnum, a 6.5" 29-6 Classic. I've had this cannon for 18 years.

Do I need a SW 44 magnum revolver or not?-tl-13823-right-jpg OK, one more. This is the great grand daddy of the 629 and all S&W N-frame hand ejectors, the .44 Military Model of 1908, the "Triple-lock". This one was built about 1914 and shipped in November 1916.

It took me a while to find the right loads for this one but now that I did I just love shooting it. My 686 has always shot good with just about everything.
