Anyone from S&W here that can help getting a 686-6 repaired?
I have a new 686-6 Talo edition 3 inch that has been sent to the factory twice now. The barrel was twisted and leaning to one side. Customer service said it was canted, but it appeared to be a defective barrel because the barrel was lined up perfectly on the top. The under lug seamed to be out of shape and the front site was tilted to the left facing the barrel. The first time the gun was returned to me the same barrel was worked and canted to the right and the gun had scratches on the barrel from knocking out the pin in the front site. After firing the gun for the first time and cleaning the barrel i noticed two fine hairline crack in the forcing cone. I called customer service told them what i found and they told me to write a note and send it in with the gun and return it. On Dec. 23 I received the gun back. The barrel is canted to the left no, but better than the second time. The barrel was refinished but it doesn't match the finish on the top of the frame. The gun has tool marks inside the frame and the forcing cone issue doesn't appear to have been addressed at all. Merry Christmas from S&W, according to them the gun is within spec. I can't believe that this is happening any suggestion.

Please post any pictures you might have. We would all like to see what's happening here. Seems like when the barrel was aligned, it was overtorqued and possibly had the fractures at the cone because of it.
Thanks and good luck with your endeavors

I would call S&W customer service and raise all kinds of hell. They should replace the gun with a new gun. You need go higher up the S&W management ladder and get a new gun. That is totally poor customer service.

Sorry i have not been able to get pictures posted. I did take the gun to a gunsmith today with over 35 years on the job. He told me that the gun needs a new barrel and to try and get then to take it back. It appears it was over torque.

686-6 Pictures of barrel and frame
The front site was off center and leaning to the left. The top of barrel was spot on. The front of the barrel didn't look right, and the site picture was off. It was sent to S&W and they tried to reposition the barrel to level out the front site. I couldn't get it to site in at the range. They refinished the top of the barrel but it doesn't match the finish on the frame. The forcing cone gap is not the same on either side of the frame. The gunsmith said they should replace the barrel to correct all of the issues with the barrel. I am going to send it back again after the new year.
