Default 586-3 serial number ... date

Hi I am from Munich Germany and I have a question about the production date and quality insight for a S&W 586-3 4" w/ S/N:BHC6368. The gun is supposed to be an unused collectors item and priced at 875 EUR incl. tax and shipment.

Any feedback/experience appreciated.

THX

Uwe

That revolver was probably produced in 1991. The actual date of manufacture is coded on the box's end label under the heading "SPEC ORD"

Just because something is unused does not necessarily make it a collectors item.

A 4" model 586 is a pretty common firearm here in America. Is there something else about this revolver that elevates it to a Collector's Item?

As to price, it is hard to say what an item is worth in Deutschland. We have no idea how many get imported over there.

Here in America, a 4" 586 that is unfired since leaving the factory and 100% complete with box, papers and tools would bring $800+ (USD) on the various auction sites.

Hey thx for the quick reply. My expression "collectors items" only refers to the fact that the original owner bought the gun to save it as a collectors piece. I had an early 686 6" before but know the 586-3 is not that common in Germany. Maybe thats why he didn't use it and kept it in the safe over the years.

I know that the gun is not really a collectors piece (yet). But since this revolver is from the 90ties (good old days) and unused I expect it to be in pretty good shape?!

And I can't wait to shoot it, for sure!! Beside my Glock 17, Ruger GP 100 3", SIG 210-6 it will become my preferred range gun :-))
