686 Smolt
Just picked up my 686-4 Smolt from Craig Maraviov in Woodland, CA. Love the look, love the feel.

Very pretty gun. I have never owned one but have shot a couple. Fine weapons.

I love it. If I ever come across one of these for sale locally, it will be mine.

In the 70s I had a Smith 27 that I sent to Davis in Cal. and had a 6" python barrel screwed on it. Really nice looking when I got it back. Sold it in the 90s to pay some kids hospital bills. One of my stupid sells I still think about.

That sure is one sweet gun! I love the look, best of both worlds, wish I owned one too.

A few years before the current Python craze I had a chance to get one of these at a little less of what a used 686 goes for. It was in pretty bad shape cosmetically and I turned it down... And now every time I see a picture of one I get a little jealous and wish I hadn't. Very nice looking revolver.

Way cool! I would really like to run across a M19 Smolt someday.

That's the first Smolt I've seen done on an L frame. It looks like a treasure! I'll be interested in how the accuracy changed with different loads. Keep us informed.

Great looking gun. Love the lines of a Python. Had a shooter out here that had a Python looking barrel added to his Model 29. Looked cool and he sure could shoot it.

Great looking gun except it needs some proper wood stocks on it. That revolver deserves some nice looking Kuracs or Ahrends or at least something better than the Goodyears.

So that's what happens when you leave a Colt and a S&W alone in a dark gun safe? Personally, I'm not a fan, but what do I know? Shoot what you like and like what you shoot.

Thanks for the comments folks. I'm hoping to get to the range this week. I've shown this Model 15 Smolt before but figured I'd post it again. I have two other Python barrels (4" and 6" blued) and a reworked 28-2 and 19-3 that may just fall to the conversion.

It works for me. I have always loved the look of a Python barrel, but like the action of a Smith & Wesson revolver better than the Colt. I would certainly take one if I had the opportunity at the right price!
