Default Model 460XVR scope or red dot

Hey everyone... I just bought a new 460 with 8 3/8 barrel...I am hoping to get some opinions on a red dot or a scope for this monster... I have a M&P R8 which I put a red dot on and that I used for hunting last year. I love the quick accusation of a red dot on a handgun and was able to easily harvest a few good whitetails last year. ... I know this gun is easily good for a 100 yards so I would like to use it for out to 100 yards but have never used a pistol scope before... Is target acquisition quick with a pistol scope? Or am I better sticking with a red dot? Any opinions on which scope or red dot will be greatly appreciated.

Either one will work. I prefer scopes for fine precision shooting myself, but am slowly be won over by red dots.

For scopes I've had good luck with Leupolds. I have long arms and some other brands don't offer enough eye relief for me. I have a couple Burris adjustable objective scopes that are great for punching paper from the bench, but don't have the eye relief I need for offhand shooting.

With reddots, Ultradot seems to be about the best. I have a Matchdot and the basic Ultradot and both work great.

Here are recent threads on the subject ( and there are others).

As stated above Leupold seems to be the scope of choice for Big bore handguners

Ultradot seems to have a big following with the Big bore handgun crowd also. I have just started using the 30 and micro version but have not shoot enough rounds to really comment on them.

I was using Aimpoint H1 but after a second failure at 2000 round point I am looking for more robust option.

Smith 460 mag red dot or fixed magnification?

460xvr scope alternatives?

Scope clearance 10.5" xvr .460

460 Magnum Sight Options

scope for 460 bone collector?

Good luck and be safe
Ruggy
