Who issued the Model 10 DAO?
I picked-up a nice mid-80's 10-8 marked "MPD" with factory DAO hammer.
Anybody know some departments who issued the DAO Model 10 (does not have to be "M")?
I know there have been lots of department/company marked Model 64 DAO's on the market over the years.

You would have to ask one of our NYPD members of service, or even Bob Vivas, but I don't think the NYPD Model 10s were DAO. I think the DAO guns began with the Model 64 over at NYPD.

I think that this is correct. The requirement of DAO revolvers for NYPD came a year or two after a 1985 accidental shooting. Officer accidentally fired while holding person at gunpoint with cocked revolver. Just had this conversation with a retired NYPD officer from whom I purchased two NY-1 guns a couple weeks ago. Also, I seem to recall other posts on this forum discussing these events in detail.
There was the 64 and then a Ruger version. Again, a lot of posts about this on the site. Quite a few former / retired NYPD folks on here.

10 DAO
Nypd did not have DAO 10's. The DAO started with the stainless NY-1 model 64, stainless Speed Six and stainless Service Six guns.
