.45 COLT Mountain Gun
Earlier this week I took receipt of this 25-13 from fellow forum member P8triot. The bluing on this specimen seems be quite a lot nicer than the late model 29's I've seen. I'm not sure why that is, but I like it! Kevin told me the piece is NIB, and I certainly believe it. I usually don't buy guns I want to use in condition this high. I'm going to feel bad about the first few marks that appear on it, but it's going to happen because I don't buy paper weights anymore.
I have some Xtreme 200gr plated bullets and Dardas 255gr LSWC's to try it out with. Finally my 25-7 has partner to help consume the ammo volume at the range
Thanks again Kevin for a fine S&W and lightning fast shipping!

Nice piece, enjoy it. I too, just took possession of a NIB 25-9 6" blued piece. I too, do not buy paperweights....shot 50 rounds out of it yesterday at the range.

45 Colt S&W Mountain Gun Blued
Congratulations on a fine piece of Smith & Wesson
Art. I like it. I just like the Mountain Guns Series,
always on the look out for one.
As you may know from past threads my two MG's
are stainless steel, someday I will find a Blued one
to add to my Collection.
Thank you for those expertly done pictures and
short story.

Mountain Gun
Oh yea, I shoot them both.
The 45 Colt I bought used,
the 44Mag nib.
I shoot them about every
week, just a few rounds.
I reload so it doesn't cost
me much.

Many times over the years, I have been tempted to get a Smith in .45 Colt, but have always been concerned about the small rims and the possibility of one or more of them getting caught under the ejector star and all the upleasantness that could cause in competition or in a self-defense situation.

Very unlikely to happen using muzzle up ejection.. The rim protrusion on the 45 colt is.slightly, but that is the rounds only draw back. The 45 acp models.are better self defense guns, if one round comes out you get them and no clumsy speed loaders to deal with
