Altamont stocks
Installed a set of the new Altamont/Smith and Wesson stocks on my 64. I think they really look nice, and typical Altamont quality

I had a beautiful set on the Taurus Model 85 (shown on left).
I sold the gun but kept the Altamonts thinking they would
fit the Model 94 (at the right). But they don't. Now what?

I like Altamonts. I have several pairs in J, K and N frame sizes. The quality is amazing. In fact I have a pair of the Altai model grips being shipped to me for a Model 66-2. When they get here I'll add a photo for this thread.

Altamont has really upped their game with high quality and many unique designs.
And, they're OEM makers for S&W and Colt, as well as the TALO special editions.

Nice M64 and Altamont's! I have about half a dozen or so sets of Altamonts for various S&W's laying around, I have been real happy with them.
My latest are these on my M586-1

My 686-4 with a set of Altamont stocks. This design was exclusive for Talo and unavailable on the Altamont Web site, I located them with a dealer that sold overstock from various grip manufacturers.
Here's my Talo 637 that came with Altamont combats with a basket-weave pattern. I believe these are exclusive to Talo as well.

I own several of Altamont's grips and have been pleased with them all...
J-frames, K/L-frames, and N-frames. I've believe they are CNC cut because they fit my handguns very precisely.
As a person who likes to tinker, I have modified some of my Altamonts. Some of the corners have a sharper edge than I like so I will take fine sandpaper and round those edges off. Also, I have taken the liberty to reshape the upper left side on some of my grips to better accommodate speedloaders. Subtle changes, just enough to make them mine.
Afterwards I buff the whole grip with 0000 grade steel wool and rub it down with tung oil... Works for me.
As an example, the top pic below shows my 629 with factory-stock Altamonts and the bottom pic shows the same gun and grips after modification. Note the top corners are now more rounded and smooth.

My J Frame with Altamonts
Here is my 640-1 357 Magnum with a set of Altamont Altair Rosewoods. Very handsome and has much more control than the two finger grips that came from the factory. Fit and finish is awesome for the price. Still very concealable with a great feel in the hand.

I have had 2 sets of Altamonts. The 1st was a finger grip that on my 340pd they were a little proud of the top of the backstrap & were uncomfortable because of that. The 2nd I still have on my 337ti. They are finger grip also & resemble the jframe combats. Comfortable to shoot but the fit is a little loose so I cut a little piece of cotton cloth & put it on the inside of the grip to tighten them up. I am interested in a new item they have for my 3" 66. The walnut fingergroove round butt but they are $75 plus shipping maybe they are real wood. I can't tell by the website.

60-10 and 360J
Wifes M60 and my 360J. I'm very pleased with the fit, finish and price of Altamonts. The grips on the 360 will be replaced by boot grips in the future. The grips on the M60 are perfect for control and comfort while shooting for the bride

I have a few sets of Altamont stocks lying around. They look nice, and are a great value. Some I bought, or came on a newer S&W from the factory. They just feel a little slim to me. My 25-15 came with them. I replaced them with a set of factory target stocks from the 80's. Feels better to me now.
Proper fit & feel, mean everything! My opinion, of course! Bob

Very nice. Altamont grips are top notch. Excellent fit. Very affordable. Fast shipping. Extremely durable.
The only complaint I can muster up is the two finger grips have a sharp edge along the bottom that is rough on my finger if I wrap it underneath the grip.
p.s. Those factory DAO Model 64's are excellent guns. Super smooth actions.

I would like bigger grips on my 60-15 Pro, then what it came with. I looked at the Altamont site but couldn't tell if they would be any bigger. Any thoughts? The Altamonts look real nice but I wouldn't mind rubber if they were bigger than what's on it. (Bottom gun) IMG_0322.jpg

I have the Altamont "Smith and Wesson J Square Fingergroove Super Walnut Checkered Fleur-de-Lis" grips on the 34-1 "Kit Gun" shown in the photos.
And thanks to this thread, I have on order the Altamont "S&W N Round Conversion Target Super Rosewood Checkered Engraved" that I will put on the 625-9 "Mountain Gun" also shown in the photos.

Model 36-1 with square butt and Altamont grips! The grips really give this 38 great control. The adjustable sights helps in precision shooting! 3" barrel, kind of like shooting a mini Model 15.

Altamont 686
Love these Altamont grips on my 686. Quality is top notch. I know some people complain that Altamont uses laminate instead of real hard wood, but who cares when the results are so good.

Any photos of the ivory classics (magnas) on a stainless gun? I'm thinking of those for my stainless 686.

CoonD, I bought a set of Altamont Ivory service grips thinking that they might go with my nickel M13. They are nice grips but feel too much like white plastic for me, so I put them away for now and am using a set of Altamont rosewood service grips on the 13, those are on my M64 behind the M13

Glashous, they look pretty good to me. How's the balance and feel for shooting?

I like the looks of the service grips, but they are usually too small for my hand. If someone would make them fatter, as in twice the thickness, that would be great, but I've not found any yet that were made that way.

And the newest addition of find grips from Alamont, the Cokes.
They are not yet in the online Alamont offering but can be had with a phone call to Alamont.
The photo below is from another thread by member who has them
