Default 586 Goodness with Kuracs!

For Years there have been two Smith and Wesson Revolvers that have eluded me.

A Pinned and Recessed 4" Model 66, and a 4" Pre-Lock Model 586.

Well, I have a 586 after searching, and I actually lucked into it. I was filling out paperwork on a Wilson Combat CQB 1911 that I bought for myself for Christmas when into my LGS walked a man carrying three 686's and one 586.

I immediately asked about the 586. He said it was in good shape, he was just moving some of his guns.

I finished the ppwk on my Wilson, and I told the Folks in the LGS that I wanted dibs on the 586 one they signed it in.

They gave me a call back and offered it at a reasonable price. I didn't even hesitate or think of haggling. I just said yes.

It is a 586-1, and the M is stamped inside the Crane to indicate it went back to the Factory for the Primer Fix.

Fast Forward a few months later, I reach out to Jennifer Culina asking about Combats for an L-Frame Square butt.

I decide on Bubinga after she shows me a similar set for an N-Frame.

I got the grips yesterday, and put them on.

They look amazing.

This Revolver will be one that stays for the long haul.

Are those grips made for RH or ambi? If RH, can they be gotten for LH? My 586-3 4" would kiss me for a set.

I would not see any issue with a lefty using them.

Congratulations on finding the 586 you have looked long and hard for. What a sweet spot for the Bubinga grips to land. I had not seen the wood on a blue yet because carrying it is relatively new. Although I knew they would look good, it is even better than I thought. The colors together are so beautiful together. I know they look even better in person too because the coppery chatoyance (iridescence) of the wood is amazing. Thank you, Tom. It was great working with you on this. Enjoy!
