My first snubby
My first GB auction win, I was the only bidder. Good deal turned out even better, the seller was 15 miles away so no shipping or transfer fee.LNIB 640 Centennial,no dash, no lock and .38 only which is OK with me. SN puts it from '93. I put the grips and T on it, came with rubber.
Put 80 rounds down range yesterday at 7-10yds one handed and she worked flawlessly and was fun to shoot.

Well, you definitely got a NICE ONE! I'm envious...
My first J was a M640-1, a few years ago. With the ergonomics of the small frame, & smaller grips, there was a bit of a DA "technique" learning curve, but once past that, I realized that my J frames (now 2), are the most naturally pointing pistols that I own. Hands down / No contest!

Welcome to the "J Frame Club". No annual dues, but you will spend money scratching the itch that these little guys cause!!
Still have the first J frame I aquired, a model 60 that I bought new in, I think, 1973 or 74. There have been many more since then.
Edit: my mind was playing tricks on me. Roy just dated it for me, and I bought it in 1976!! Well, I was only off by a few years.
Here it is, still in pretty respectable condition, considering what it has been through!!!:
Best Regards, Les

Very nice. Over the years I've had five snubbies (still have three), so be prepared to get more. Currently carrying a 2 inch S&W Model 12-2 and a 1⅞ inch S&W Model 642-2 as my off-duty guns.

Very nice! I wish someone could tell me how you guys get the grip adapters to fit so well. I have one for my 22-4 that I can't get right no matter what I do.

J-Fames are my favorite. They just fit my hand right. I have them with stock grips, Hogue Grips, and Pachmyers. They are fun to shoot and easy to carry. The more you shoot them you realize how accurate the are.

Congratulations! I like the stock set up on it! My 1st G.B. purchase was a 28 no dash, 6" but it was a state away. Have picked up some nice guns there. Bob

Great start.
Snubbies are like potato chips.
Strap in, and enjoy the ride.

Jim, the key is to have the right number of Tyler T Grip. Current protocol has a number like 20B, which means "grip adaptor, black",....but then the critical number is the last one. Number 1 is for S&W J frames made after 1955. Number 2 is for I frames and J frames made prior to 1955. Number 3 is for K and L frame square butts, and number 3R is for K and L frame round butts, and the number 4 is for the N frame. So, if you want a Tyler for a round butt K frame with a black finish, it would be a "20B-3R", as just one example. In your case, the 22-4 is an N frame, so I would expect that the #4 would fit. But I am not familiar with the newer N frames.
This is off of the top of my head, you can go to the Tyler T grip web site to see numbers for Colts and Rugers. I can't remember whether they make adapters for othe brands like Charter Arms, but this is just a hint on getting the right adaptor for your gun. I have several for my Colt Detective Specials and other sizes as well.
I love them, but they are pretty hard to find at reasonable prices.
Best Regards, Les

les.b,
You got your model 60 during the years I was coveting one! Didn't get mine until much later. I'll bet yours can tell some interesting stories! I prefer the 640 Centennial models, specifically my 640-1, but also have a no dash. My favorite J Frames. Everybody oughta have at least one J Frame, just because!
