1997 36-9 Ladysmith +P?
Hi all- I have inherited a S&W 36-9 Ladysmith and was advised that it is a Summer 1997 mfg gun and am wondering if it is ok to use +P ammo in it? Thanks in advance

Congratulations! Does it have a +p designation on the barrel? My guess would that +p is ok, although I maybe wrong.

It does not have the +P designation on bbl, simply ".38 S&W SPL"

The 36-9 was built on the "J Magnum" frame, with the integral frame lug to retain the cylinder, so it is + P rated. Enjoy!

I have shot +P in every J-Frame, Colt Cobra, Colt Detective Special, Charter Arms, and Taurus 85 that I have owned. This has taken 40 years to do. I practice with standard loads. I use +P to get the feel and to find point of impact. The most +P I have shot at one time is 50 rounds from my S&W 36. I have never had a problem with any of these Snubs.

Congrats on your new Chiefs. I've been looking for a 36-9; how 'bout a few photos just to tease us.
