Centerfire Systems has police trade in 640's again
Got the notification yesterday, They have 640's in 357 back in stock.
They went up and are now $399.00 + shipping.
I really like the ones I bought the last 2 offerings and thought I
would put the word out.
Police Trade-in S&W 640 SS 2" .357/.38 Hammerless DAO 5 Shot (Grips Vary)

With new S&W J-frames going for $340 and up, I would be hard put to justify, unless I was filling a collection slot.

Who prefers hammers on revolvers, for those long shots.

I wonder where all these are coming from? I can't imagine a police force in the last 15-20 years using revolvers as their duty weapons...especially a J frame. Maybe CF took a lot of these in over the years.. and is trickling them out so as not to crush the market. Just thinking out loud.

I wanted one of those at $349 but at $399 I'll pass. I just bought a brand new 438 for $319 so my budget is tapped out anyway.

At $417.69 + 3% credit card fee I'll pass seeing I bought one first time around. That one is a beauty. I have a feeling her homely sisters might be in this batch.
But thanks for the heads up serger.

My opinion only here ... I'd personally rather have the older models as compared to any new model for sale today! I don't know what year models those are that are now for sale at Centerfire but I can tell you for certain that my older models are outstanding. I bought them used and I paid more for them than these are selling for. Just my two centavos.

Not sure about this batch but the first time around they were reported to have been traded in by the Michigan State Police.
They were issued back up weapons for Troopers.
I know that one time in the past 2-3 years there was an influx of trade in revolvers that hit the market and they were supposed to be trade ins from the Puerto Rico Police. Some of those were 640's as well.
I love the one I got from them the first time around. In good shape and I had the front sight replaced with a F.O. sight.
