New engraved 640-1 or -4.
At my LGS I’ve been eyeing a no lock, new 640. I think it is a neat gun and I like small revolvers. The price is $750 with plastic case and wood presentation box. It looks like a special edition that is suppose to to be a safe queen; but I shoot and carry my safe queens. I’m curiois about the (-) series. The sticker reads 640-4, yet the frame with the crane open is clearly marked 640-1. So, is it a -1 since it doesn’t have the internal lock? I have not decided on purchasing it yet, I have financial responsibilities, at the moment I’m paying off a MRI deductible. If I do get it, I’ll have to decide what to put on consignment to replace the funds.

This is just me thinking out loud, but if I were going to buy a "shooter" 640 I wouldn't buy the machine engraved model. You can get them for a lot less without the chicken scratching. Heck a 640-1 Pro Series is less expensive for a lot more gun.

That’s true, probably the way I should go. I still will like to know about the -1,-4 dilemma.

There's such a thing as a M640-3, but I've never even seen a -4 before. What changed, was added, or improved?

The Kernel's comment made me wonder this: is the "sticker" the label on the original box, or is it the shop's sticker? If it's the shop's and the gun is marked 640-1 then perhaps some inattentive employee created a discrepancy that really isn't one.

Yep, the 640-1 Pro Series is already plenty sexy and practical as is - no scratching needed. However, it's your $$$

I'm guessing the "-4" is an error.
