I have searched extensively and am hoping that my esteemed colleagues here can be of assistance.

I am looking for K frame round butt magna style grips in black. Shiny or matte finish is fine. Wood, horn, pearl, or synthetic is also good to go.

I'd like to avoid checkering if possible. I plan to carry this, so I'd like to keep the cost under $75. I could invest a bit more if necessary.

The goal is to get the same configuration as seen below, but in black. (My daughter claimed the below 64 snub for her birthday. I'd like to set up another for me, but in black.)

What say you? Am I setting my criteria to narrow?

J. Scott used to offer such things. Tiger Mountain Cutlery in Mountain City, GA (706) 746-3705 had an assortment of J. Scott stocks a few months ago. Hopefully he will have what you want.

You should be able to find a set made from buffalo horn. The ones on my Colt 1911 look black to me. I think they were in the $60 range.

I have a set of the J. Scott grips for J. frames. I haven't found any for a K frame. I may have to call Tiger Mountain Cutlery if I can't find anything online. It doesn't look like they have a website.

I've found buffalo horn in K square, but the round butt version seems to be eluding me.

If I find a really worn out pair of factory magnas i may try stripping them and staining them black.

My 2 inch Md 64 is wearing Ahrends Retro Banana Smooth and I love them. These are far more hand filling than you would expect and would allow you to avoid the grip adapter, at least that's the case for my medium size hand. Also, they do not have any checkering and are available in a variety of wood and finish choices.

check out Brownells for a set of; Precision Gun Specialties "Hideout Grips" 729-101-001WB..... good utility boot grips for about $25

I've had my eye on those for some time and I'll probably pick up a set eventually. In this case, I'm looking for something that will work with a grip adapter.

Check out ebay. I have seen many black smooth r.b. stocks for around $30. Bob

I must not be searching properly. I have seen a few - all from Thailand. I ordered a set before realizing that was the case. I'm sure they'll be great when they arrive.

Thanks for all of the input. I have a few sets on order and will be keeping my eye out for others.

Check out BK Grip adaptors......good product and easier and cheaper to come by than a Tylor (sp?) T-grips.

I've used both over 40 years; grips w/ adapter and boot grips.... IMO the boot grip is a better/more solid solution.... both giving about the same grip feel.

I tend to use grip adaptors with .22s with Stag grips...... centerfire are now mostly Craig Spegel Boot or extended boot grips

Howdy zipty6!

I think that 64 in white is beautiful! I can understand you wanting to set another in black. I may have to redo mine that way. Thanks for sharing the pic! Please share the finished gun with us when it's ready. I'll be looking forward to it!

I have several of the BK adapters and am fond of them, using one on my current carry piece. They're certainly a great buy also. I have a spare K frame BK adapter already, with plans to use it if the stocks I found had more of a matte finish.

I only have two of the Tyler T adapters. I like the idea of supporting a small town business in my home state. That being said, the cost difference can be hard to justify in cases where the BK adapters meet my needs.
