Default Finally! 3” Model 13

I love 3” Smiths. Been looking for a while for a 3” Model 13 to go with my 65’s, 66’s and 36’s. Even made a statement in another thread this week that I’d gladly pay $500-600 for one. Found this 13-3 today and had to get off the hip a little more than I said, but it’s pretty nice and those Altamont grips just kept calling out for me to take them home. It will clean up nicely but I plan to put a few hundred rounds through it this weekend. Then a good cleaning before shooting some more!

I found another one for $650 with magnas and Tyler T and box. Haven't jumped on it yet. Have found other good deals including a Python under 3K. Need to quit looking. I'm finding too much.

I understand your excitement. It seems like I can't swing a dead cat without hitting a 3' 65 but have never seen a 13 3' in person.

Congrats!

While waiting in line at last weekend’s gun show, I checked out a 90% 3” 13-3 that a fellow patron was selling. I was more than ready to pull out the wad, until he gave me his very best gun show price of $900 - “it’s worth that much because it had a trigger job and it comes with pachmayrs.” It was a nice gun, but not $900 nice.

For those looking, a friend of mine has a couple. He is thinking of letting one go that is in kind of rough shape.

I still don’t know how found 2.

You never see 3” around here. I have only seen 6 3” Smiths in person. 2 Model 65, 2 Model 66, 1 Model 36 and today my first 3” Model 13. Luckily I’ve wound up with them all.

I have 3, 3” S&W’s, a M64-3, M13-3 and a 686 CS-1. I found them all when I wasn’t looking.

My M13-3 is the shiney variant

Nice M13! A few of my co-workers carried them on the job instead of the then issued 4” M64. When Glocks began to be issued in the late ‘80s, the guys sold their Smiths cheap. Missed the boat on those.
Finally found a M65 3” at a LGS literally down the street from my house last Saturday for $528 OTD.

A model 13 was my third (and last) issued revolver. Started with a 2.5 inch 66-1, then a 4 inch 66-2 prior to the 13. All were great, but the Model 13 was by far the best carry gun we had. I still have it, as issued. We ordered them with our seal roll marked on the sideplate and with K round target (banana) grips.

I think you did well. I paid $799 for mine in upstate NY several weeks ago. It’s in perfect shape, great trigger, and shoots to point of aim. I have wood Hogues on it. I think I will carry it today...
