Smith Wesson 686-3 question
I have the opportunity to buy one with a 6” barrel in 99% condition no box or paperwork the gun shop is asking $710 out the door. No scratches no dings the grips are in excellent condition. I’d like to hear you guys opinion on it. Being a Dash 3 there’s no recall on that model. I’m a big fan of the older Smith’s.
Thanks
Mike

$710 is not out of line, the 6" barrel is not as desirable as the shorter barrel lengths.

THE 686-3 IS A GREAT REVOLVER. IMHO, THAT PRICE IS REASONABLE. IF YOU LIKE IT, YOU SHOULD SNAP IT UP.......
I DON'T THINK THAT IT WILL LAST LONG. IF YOU SNOOZE, YOU WILL LOSE ! ! !

686-3
I purchased this 4" 686-3 for $700 total cost back in October of 2017. No box or paper, just the gun. The gun is pretty much in perfect condition. I'd buy one just like it in the same condition right now for the same price. For a 6", maybe a little less, but that's a personal preference.
Model 686-3 4"

$710 is a reasonable asking price.

One thing I know....
One thing I know is that you won't be sorry you bought it.

I think you made a good decision and, if for some reason you don't like it, you shouldn't have any problem selling it. I have a six inch model 66-2 and love to shoot it. Might not want to carry it around all day in a holster, but that is not what I do with it.

Reevaluating the value on my 686-4 4" as well (and think I got a HECK of a deal, if above prices are fair/good)

I think I got a great deal on my 4" 686-6. I traded a used Kahr K9 + $290 cash for it. Got it brand spanking new in the hard plastic blue box too!

The price is not that bad. You mentioned "asking" was $710. TRY to get it for less. What can it hurt? I bought mine 5 years ago for $600. No box or papers. It shoots quite well. It is a -3 also. Let us know how you make out! Bob

Thanks! A bit of a warning! 1 tends to turn into more. I have a 4", 586, no dash, and a 5" 686-6, Pro Series too. Bob
