Default What's not to like???

So ugly its cute.

Lightweight.

Its a .44.

I was not crazy about the grips that came on it, so I fixed that. Probably will use the original grips to qualify with it.

Can't comment on recoil because I haven't fired it yet.

The 296 has been on my short list of wants for several years. I even picked up and empty fitted factory gray case in the hopes (dreams) of stumbling across one that wasn't seriously overpriced.

I want one as well. My 624 snub is a tad big to tote most of the time.

I don't have a 296, but I do have a 396 that I replaced the steel cylinder with a titanium one and bobbed the hammer. Great gun easy to carry. Recoil isn't that bad IMHO

Wink

The only problem I've discovered in these large caliber lightweight guns is bullet pull. I was regularly using a 325 PD in IDPA matches using 45ACP or 45 GAP hand loads with 230 FMJs from Montana Gold. When unloading/showing clear I found myself with a hand full of unfired brass, powder and the bullet. I also found unfired rounds would have bullets that had moved a lot out of normal seating length.

This is not a deal killer in a carry gun but I stopped using the 325 in matches. Fresh factory ammo is less likely to jump. Something to be aware of.

Yes, you need one. Surprisingly good DA trigger pull. During snake season, and its almost always snake season in Texas, I carry mine with a couple of snake loads and three JHPs. Hardly notice its there. Good luck.
