Default S&W 64 CDC Marked Revolver

Has anyone got a letter for on to see see if it comes back California Department OF Correction or a Distributor? Would it be worth getting one?
Thanks
Will

Three or four years ago gunshops around Atlanta had loads of those guns. The guns were supposedly from California Department of Corrections.

Yes CDC Marked Guns are from California Department Of Corrections. They
have been slowly transitioning to Glocks over the last 5-6 years and these
revolvers have come on market from time to time. What I am asking has
anybody received a Historical Letter on one? Does it show shipped to CDC
or a Distributor? I would rather not spend the money if it does not show
direct ship to CDC.

Out of curiosity, why does that matter? Do you suspect a monetary uplift if shipped directly and not through a distributor? Is there something else? No sarcasm intended. I just don’t have any LE S&W’s and want to know the reason.

CDC could always be "Centers for Disease Control" :-)
Maybe it was used to guard the latest strain of Ebola.

Quite a few people here in metro Atlanta thought that was where the guns came from.

Not interested in any "monetary uplift" on gun which would be little or nothing. I would like to know if it was shipped to CDC direct=Used in service for thirty years to guard Charlie M. or shipped to distributor as part
of an over run. Kind of like Colts I have lettered, shipped to a hardware Store or a Judge In Texas. Hope this answers your question.

I had a model 10 that was marked CDC. I think it was a model 10-9.

The CDC etchings run the gamut from very well done to looking like they were done with a hot knife blade.

I would guess that any with CDC on it was done by the prison system, and maybe the prison, where it was issued.

I would be telling everyone that it was from the Center for Disease Control. They keep the guns in the building in case the Zombies get out of control.
