Don't know if I ever posted this but even if I did, it was quite a while ago and after seeing a thread on a car site, thought some might be amused by it.

A good number of years ago, S&W had 40% off sale for military, retired military and I think a few other categories.

So, I ordered another 500 Mag, a 8.375" barreled model for about $825, loved the deal.

Well, I patiently waited or at least as patiently as a shooting enthusiast can be for it to arrive. When it was in my opinion, overdue, I called S&W. They told me it had been shipped a while ago. So I asked where they shipped it to?

They had shipped the exact model I wanted to a guy in Alaska with the exact same name. I lived in Albuquerque, NM at that time.

What are the odds of that happening? Pretty damned high.

S&W apologized and quickly shipped my gun. Gun has been flawless. Don

That's how I got my Model 27 Classic. S&W had a big discount thing ongoing that year (probably same year as mentioned above) for military personnel, retirees included, so I couldn't resist. I asked John Taffin which gun I should choose and he strongly recommended the Model 27 Classic.

I don't know for sure but I'd bet the other Don in AK was buying under the same promotion, he just got his first. Don
