I think I am a hoarder
I am was in a larger Montana city for the weekend. Had some time to kill so I started hitting the pawnshops. Not much, but then I saw a blue S&W 44 mag. I know right off its later than a -2 because the space from rear of cylinder to recoil shield is to big to be for recessed cylinder. Plus, no pin. Wearing Goodyears. Marked $775. I already have 2 629s and am more of a 45 colt guy than a 44 mag guy, but hey what the heck. Ask to see it. Guy hands it to me and says I will make you a good deal on it this morning. Gun is real tight, has target hammer and trigger, don't show much wear except on the muzzle from being holstered and rubbed there. Recoil shield almost unmarked. How good a deal I ask. He says $675. I say can I look under the grips. He hands me a screwdriver. Under the grips is the typical light spots of rust from rubber grips. I told him and myself, I don't really need a shooter model 29. I made it right to the door, stopped couldn't help myself, offered $625. It is sitting in a tub of Ed's Red.
Jim's home for wayward Smiths. Hard to walk away from a decent adjustable sight N frame for that price. Maybe I'll sell a 629-1. Probably not. LOL
The light along rib is just reflection, Other than the muzzle really only a few light freckles. I have a blue tank but, might just find a 4" barrel. I do have a 45 colt reamer and another 45 barrel, but to many 45s already.

Actually its not 3 44mags, its 4 counting the model 69. But, 44 mags aren't the problem neither are a few 44 specials. The 22s, 32s, 38s and 357s might not be the problem. Certainly not the lonely 22 Jet, the only 41 mag or the single 500. The 45 acps or colts might be just a little bit excessive. The top breaks aren't really all that numerous and only one tip up. Its only when you look at it as a whole that you have to wonder if I have a hoarding problem.
But, hey, hoarder is a much better word than "arsenal"

The media has a field day with the word "arsenal".
If I remember correctly in 2016 some group did a study on gun ownership and came up with the phrase "Super Owners". They said that 80% of all firearms are owned by 3% of the population. A super owner according to them owns more than 17 firearms. I'd be willing to say there are many "Super Owners" on this forum...….

When you can do the 200 piece .45 revolver pinwheel display, you might have an arsenal. And yes, we would need a photo to document this.

You're no hoarder, you're a firearms enthusiast and only idiots categorize you differently.
And since they're brainless, who cares? Don

I'm a S&W SuperOwner+ and I'm a 10x SuperOwner in general. I married a 10x SuperOwner's daughter, and she is of the opinion "Real Men have guns!" and real men go and shoot those guns in competitions or with friends OFTEN! (When you find a gal like that, never let go!)

Hoarder? Nah, more like a rescuer. You brought this one into your home for wayward Smiths. Sell a 629 because of this...no way! That's a nice acquisition.

I cringe every time I hear a news person mention "arsenal", and they really go nut when they find 1,000 rounds of ammo. I would really hate for one of them to get into my house.

My brother had an arsenal if having over 200 (handguns) makes it an arsenal.
Me, not even a small "collection" and not one .44 Mag.

I have always been accused of being a hoarder, of all sorts of things. Most recently when I acquired my 6th 870 pump it was "do you really need another one of those", but in my defense I was able to point out that each was configured differently!!

Speaking of hoarders, ammunition in this case, years ago in Albuquerque, NM a mini van was pulled over for a minor issue and during the course of the interaction with the officer some ammo was found.
The most popular lamestream network evening news breathlessly reported that an "arsenal" of ammo was found.
The "arsenal" was a single brick of .22LR ammo which as any shooter knows can be expended in an afternoon with a couple young boys. Don

"Cache" or "stockpile" would have been better. Or "ammo dump".

I’d say you’re “accumulating” at this point. Collection at some undetermined threshold, but not a hoarder. Hoarders have piles of things they don’t really need.

Are you afraid to open a closet for fear you’ll be buried by an avalanche of shooting paraphernalia?
Are there areas of your home you cannot access because they’re blocked by gun cases or boxes?
Are you unable to have visitors in your home?
Are you forced to eat standing up because every horizontal surface is covered with guns and shooting-related items?
If the answers to all these questions are “No”, you’re definitely not a hoarder.
If you answered “Yes” to any....eh, who cares?

You can't be a hoarder unless you own more than I, and I have four (629-1x2, 29-2x2).

Thanks so much for posting this. I'm much relieved. I thought I might be in trouble with the first condition but recognized I don't have this problem with any of my closets...
and you didn't mention the garage.

Let's first figure out if you are even a gun nut.
Wiki defines a gun nut as a person owning more guns than would fit into one gun safe. They do not give dimensions. Glad I'm not a gun nut....

That's an absurdly low threshhold. Double digits? That'd make a huge percentage of forum members hoarders.
Triple digits, maybe but if that brings them pleasure and they can afford it who should criticize them? Don

I thought I was doing good, providing a home for wayward .38 S&W snubbies. Now, I've been labeled a Terrierist.

I know people on this forum that have more than (17) .44magnums alone and they are not hoarders of any sorts... They have the nicest collection of the nicest .44's around. A hoarder is someone that is psychologically "F-d" and keeps trash around worth merely pennies more than curb garbage in their houses and can't even part with old newspapers... That certainly isn't the case with anyone I know or consort with. I hate the media and I'm seriously starting to think about dismantling my Imgur account to only consist of dog and puppy pictures because of the Lib-tarded "media" who are liars at best, wicked at worst...
