Model 64-3 Hammer Question
I am still working on this 64-3 that has so many problems.
What size hammer (width) did this model come with and did the firing pin come with a spring?
The firing pin has been replaced and there is no spring between it and the hammer like in my model 10-6.
Also if I need to replace the hammer, there are apparently 2 widths: .265" and a wider .375(?)". Is there a difference other than the width of the spur?

The book shows that the 64 came with a .265" service hammer. The difference in size is primarily in the spur. The engineering and production changes don't show a deletion of a firing pin spring. Since it has been produced since 1970, it may not have had one. I'm sure someone more knowledgeable than I am will tune in and give the correct answer to that question.

I just got a 64-3 from AIM this week. The firing pin has no spring and it is a .265 hammer.

The firing pin spring didn't appear on the K frame until 1988. The hammers with these springs are not interchangeable with the earlier ones
