Default Location of S&W logo on 581

My first post so please don't bash me if I'm not in the right forum area, etc...

Just purchased a no-dash 581 and noticed that the S&W logo is stamped on the right side of the frame. All of the others I have seen are located on the left side under the cylinder latch. Does this indicate it is an earlier version?

Mine is under the cylinder latch. Bought it in 1984 (best that I can remember).

and shipped in the classic 2-piece blue or gray box (depending on finish). Later versions were shipped in the 1-piece folded box with insert.

The serial # is AACXXXX with matching box. One piece folded I think. Haven't received delivery yet.
