Default What's wrong with the 627PC snub?

As a California resident, I can't buy used guns from out of state.

So I frequently check the classified ads on calguns.com to see what other Cal residents have for sale.

By far the most frequently offered revolver is the 627PC with the 2.625 inch barrel.

I wonder why so many people are unloading them.

I like mine, but mainly it's a range toy.

What do the rest of you use yours for?

I love mine it’s the only belly button gun I own.
Here’s mine wearing Craig Spegel boot grips.
I don’t see many 627-5 snubs for sale, but I do see the factory Eagle Secret Service grips for sale. Mine were poorly fit. Too bad they’re nice looking grips.

My 627 snub was sitting in the range pro shop for forever until I ordered sight unseen the 627 Pro 4", a magnificent gun. At that point, I ignored the IMO ugly unfluted cylinder and bought the PC snub. No real need for it, but it's almost as magnificent as the Pro. I use it, like all my revolvers, for DA range practice with full loads on multiple paper dessert plate targets at speed. I'm fortunate that I do not have to sell a gun to be able to buy something else.

Truthfully, an N snub may be an odd gun, but I never forgot the 1969 Guns magazine article on conversion of a bulged-bbl New Service to a working snub. And I like snubs.

I will also add that the trigger on my 627-5 snub is buttery smooooth out of the box.
