Anyone aware of any places that at currently selling police trade in revolvers? I got a few last year at adventure outdoors, classic, and Aim Surplus. But they all have since sold out.

I just got an email this morning from Gander Outdoors for police trade in S&W model 10-5’s . $299.00.

Recoil gunworks has trade in stuff pretty regularly. Got lucky a few times with them and snagged a p226 with rail, night sights, srt and 2 mags for 380 and a Remington 870 with the old surefire forend I like for 350.

I recently bought a 10-5 re-import for $204.00. There are a number of vendors selling them. Just google "HG2422" which is the model number for the various sellers.

I am amazed there are any police trade-in revolvers left. I would have thought 99% of law enforcement agencies switched a decade or more ago.

And the U.S. military switched from the 1911 to the Baretta m9 in 1985, yet there isn't an active military arms room in this country that doesn't have a stash of 1911's. The usmc release a bunch of colt 1911's a few years ago that colt fan boys ate up for $5k a pop to own a "combat used" weapon. I hate to break it to those guys, but most of them bought worn out range guns that never saw country, much less combat.

When agencies choose to release firearms they no longer use, if at all, is usually up to the discretion of the agency. That being said, I know too many heads of departments that have never even been inside the arms room to have the knowledge of what is in there so they can get rid of the older equipment. Then there's a whole new discussion on what armorors keep off the books intentionally.
